Pendeen Farmers’ Market was one of the first markets to open in West Penwith and over the last 7 years, it has become popular with residents and visitors alike. We offer a range of quality, fresh and home-cooked produce throughout the year to meet most people’s food shopping needs: free-range meat, poultry and eggs; game in season; unsprayed and organic vegetables and salads; fresh fish and shellfish; honey and honey products; homemade bread, cakes, sweet and savoury tarts, pies and preserves; Cornish and West Country cheeses; pork products including pies, sausages, bacon, terrines, ham, Scotch eggs and sausage rolls; we also sell herbs and plants for the garden and veg plot plus hand-knits made by the farmer using wool from her rare-breed sheep.
We even have a community café so our customers can make shopping a pleasurable social occasion and take time out to chat with their friends over a hot drink and a snack. We are dog and child-friendly and there is easy access for wheelchairs.
“Just like Old Cornwall”, said one visitor.
There’s plenty to see and do when you visit Pendeen – it’s a starting point for walkers and those interested in ancient sites. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with the Atlantic Ocean and the scenic South West Coast Path in front and the Carn and the wild moors of Penwith and their ancient sites at its back, the village of Pendeen is not far from Land’s End, Cape Cornwall and Botallack with its famous Crowns Mine. In what was once a thriving mining area, Pendeen is now at the heart of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site and home to the famous Levant and Geevor Tin mines (both of which are open to visitors) and Pendeen Watch, the lighthouse overlooking the dangerous seas of Cornwall’s north coast.
Come to Pendeen Farmer’s Market for quality local produce sold to you by people who care.
Parking is easy and free, and local buses stop nearby. In summer (May 24 – Aug 31), the famous vintage open-top bus, the 300 Explorer, stops at Pendeen, so you can hop off, shop and then hop on the next one!
